Valerie Somerville is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. She earned a degree in Mass Media Arts with a concentration in Radio. She currently serves as Host of More Joy in the Morning from 9 am to 12 pm on 91.9 FM WCLK. Ms. Somerville understands that the Body of Christ is not limited to ethnicity, economic status, or age, therefore her listening audience enjoys a mixture of contemporary and traditional Gospel music. The music she plays ministers to thousands each Sunday. She has four featured segments on More Joy in the Morning, “The Double Play at 10 o’clock”, “The Monthly Birthday Role Call”, and “Word on the Street”. “The Double Play at 10 o’clock” features to two songs from the same artist; one more dated than the other. “Faith Break” features sermon snippets from local and national Pastors. “The Monthly Birthday Roll Call” celebrates the birthdays of national celebrities and listeners. “Word on the Street” keeps you up to date with the happenings in the entertainment industry – more specifically the Gospel industry.
Valerie Somerville is also the Founder of Destiny Media Coaching & Etiquette. Her company offers four areas of service: Media Coaching, Image Consulting, Entertainment Consulting, and Elegance and Style (an Etiquette Sorority). DMC is prepared to equip its clients with the knowledge to deliver responses that are polished and appealing for any mass media interview. Marketing yourself or your product is worth putting your “best look” forward. Therefore, DMC is dedicated to providing consultation sessions that will assist with the improvement of your self-image and confidence. Valerie Somerville is a member of New Life International Family Church, where the Pastor is Bishop Dr. Jeronn C. Williams. Valerie is a native of Atlanta and currently resides there. She has the opportunity to speak and serve as Mistress of Ceremonies at various types of events. She has spoken at Women’s Prayer breakfasts, family reunions, Career Day activities in various public school systems, and other events. Valerie can be seen in Tyler Perry’s movie “Madea’s Family Reunion”, the independent film “The Last Adam”, and Tyler Perry’s release “Daddy’s Little Girls”.
